5 tips for a natural and eco-friendly life for your child

Parents want the best for their children. More and more often, this means: healthy, mindful, and close to nature. But how do you make natural choices in a world full of plastic, bright colors, and disposable products?
At
My Tiny Nature, we’re happy to help you on your way. In this blog, we share 5 practical tips to help your child grow up in a natural and healthy environment without sacrificing fun or convenience.

1. Choose wooden toys

Wooden toys are not only beautiful and durable, but also safe and good for your child’s development. They stimulate imagination and creativity because they’re often simpler and more versatile than plastic toys with lights and sounds.

Wood is also a natural material, free of harmful substances often found in cheap plastics. By choosing wooden blocks, puzzles, or rolling toys, you give your child a safe and sustainable play experience  and it looks great in the nursery.

2. Eat healthy with safe materials

Your baby’s first eating experiences are important for developing healthy habits  but the materials they eat with matter too.

Many standard baby plates and cups contain harmful substances like BPA. BPA (Bisphenol A) can disrupt hormone balance and affect development.

A safe alternative is a silicone dining set: soft, unbreakable, and BPA-free. They’re also easy to clean and pleasant for little hands and mouths. And of course, pair it with healthy, fresh, minimally processed food let your child explore and taste fruits and vegetables together!

3. Organic and comfortable clothing

Children have sensitive skin, and synthetic fabrics can cause irritation because they don’t breathe well and trap heat and sweat. They may also contain chemical residues.

Choose clothing made of natural, organic materials like organic cotton  it breathes better, feels softer, and is kind to both skin and planet.

This also applies to dress-up clothes, which are often made of scratchy synthetics  soft, natural materials make playtime carefree and fun.

4. Create a calming, natural nursery

The space where your child plays and sleeps influences how calm and happy they feel. A nursery with natural materials and soft colors creates a peaceful atmosphere.

Think wooden furniture, cotton blankets, wall decorations made of natural fibers, and storage baskets of wicker or jute. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Simplicity is what makes it special.

5. Spend time outside together

Perhaps the most important tip: get outside and let your child discover nature. Play in the park, walk in the woods, or collect shells on the beach. It helps children learn about the world, strengthens their immune system, and creates precious memories.

By joining in yourself, you set a good example and build wonderful shared moments.

Why natural choices matter

Natural choices don’t have to be extreme. Every little step counts: one wooden toy, one silicone plate, a few organic outfits, or an afternoon outdoors.

Your child will grow up with love and respect for themselves and for the world.
